Is the CMDB+B just an emergency centre?
The CMDB+B, that is, the Balexert and Blandonnet dental centres, is not only a dental emergency centre, but it does treat a great many emergencies.
Dental emergencies: a discipline like any other at the CMDB+B
From its creation in 2009, the CMDB+B was designed and intended as a high-level centre, able to meet the full range of oral and dental care needs.
This integrated approach mirrors what has long been done in human medicine, in hospital centres as well as in large clinics.
The two founding partners of the CMDB+B, Doctors Fabien Hauser and Andreas Fiebig, both hold dual training in medicine and in dentistry. For them, the CMDB+B can only be a comprehensive centre.
Every discipline of dentistry is present at the CMDB+B, delivered by general practitioners and specialists with the appropriate training.
Dental emergencies deserve our best efforts
We want our patients to receive the best possible care. This applies to scheduled procedures just as it does to emergencies. Handling a dental emergency properly requires experience and diligence. It also calls for gentleness and kindness, in situations that are often stressful for the person concerned. We take all of these factors into account.
Emergency care: care on the cheap?
The aim of emergency care is to respond quickly to a problem that is painful (a cavity, an abscess), functional (a lost filling) or aesthetic (a visible broken tooth).
The priority is therefore the effectiveness of the measure taken. That said, the care must also take into account any subsequent treatment. Later care must remain possible under good conditions, and unnecessary treatments must also be avoided. In any case, good emergency care must be quality care, even if it is temporary in nature.
Emergency care for everyone at the CMDB+B
As mentioned at the outset, we treat a large number of dental emergencies, because this is an integral part of our mission. At the CMDB+B, each practitioner keeps time available every day to see patients for emergency consultations, whether they are regular patients or patients who have never been to us before. By its very nature, organising emergencies is complex. We always do our best to accommodate you, but there may be times when we no longer have room available. In that case, we will direct you to other facilities that may be able to see you.
I already have a regular dentist. How will the CMDB+B look after me?
The patient’s freedom of choice, regarding both the treatment they want and the practitioner to whom they entrust their care, is an absolute priority. At the CMDB+B, if you are not a regular patient, we make a point of asking whether you have a treating dentist, and whether you would like us to prepare a consultation report for them. This is recognised by our peers, and we are proud to be regularly called upon by the AMDG (Geneva Association of Dentists) to cover their on-call duty on public holidays and weekends.
What happens next?
The choice is yours. As far as possible, the practitioner who sees you will answer your questions about any follow-up care that may be indicated. It is then up to you to decide.
